Integrated Withdrawal and Assessment Service – Alice Springs

Alcohol and Other Drugs Service Central Australia (ADSCA) provides a specialist alcohol and other drugs health service to individuals and their families in the centre of the Northern Territory who are experiencing alcohol and/or other drugs related issues. ADSCA provides services in Alice Springs, Tennant Creek and surrounding communities. ADSCA services include acute AOD related presentations, community interventions and specialist withdrawal services.
The Integrated Withdrawal and Assessment Service (IWAS) is the inpatient branch of ADSCA, operating as a satellite ward of the Alice Springs Hospital and located approximately 20km South of Alice Springs. IWAS provides individualised, coordinated and effective health assessments, case management, therapeutic interventions and recovery focused treatment options, as well as developing prevention, promotion and early intervention strategies in collaboration with other agencies.
The Nurse Management Coordinator IWAS provides a recognised reference point for the multi-disciplinary team in relation to assessment, planning, review, evaluation and coordination of in-patient service delivery in the area of Alcohol and Other Drugs as well as being responsible to facilitate and foster the provision of a service that is cost effective and culturally appropriate to meet the needs of patients, their families and carers.
