The goal of SESLHD Drug and Alcohol Service is to improve health, wellbeing and social outcomes for individuals, families and the community, related to drug and alcohol use. SESLHD Drug and Alcohol (D&A) Service offers a range of treatment and support services for people with problems from their alcohol, prescription or illicit drug use, and/or their families and carers.
The position is based at SESLHD D&A Services which are located in clinics at the Langton Centre in Surry Hills, St George Hospital in Kogarah, and Caringbah Community Health Centre at Sutherland Hospital. Inpatient D&A services are provided at Sydney Hospital, Prince of Wales, St. George and Sutherland Hospitals. As this position will be working on a state-wide Workforce Development (WFD) Package, some intra-state travel will be required.
The Nurse Educator will develop a WFD package for NSW AOD Treatment Clinical Care Standards:
- Consult with state-wide government and NGO Alcohol and Other Drug (AoD) services and coordinate working groups for the development of the competencies
- Identify a range of high quality training opportunities already available
- Develop training where there are identifiable gaps.
- Develop a WFD Implementation Strategy.
- Delivery training to support the implementation strategy
The position will also deliver training and credentialing in the Overdose Response & Take Home Naloxone (ORTHN) Project in participating services across NSW.
This position will be required to support the WFD needs of SESLHD DAS as the state-wide project requirements allow.
