The Principal Project Officer leads strategic and operational projects to enhance and maintain clinical quality and safety across programs within the Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs.
Where you’ll be working:
You will be working with a diverse and dynamic team within the Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs. The Centre is part of the Population and Public Health Division within the NSW Ministry of Health. The Division responds to the public health aspects of major incidents or disasters in NSW, monitors health, identifies trends and evaluates the impact of health services.
The Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs leads the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, programs and services to improve health and reduce the burden of alcohol and other drug related harm in NSW. The priorities of the Centre are prevention of harm from alcohol and other drugs, development of policy, programs and clinical guidelines to ensure effective health outcomes for all consumers. The Centre supports NSW Health funded Alcohol and Other Drug (AoD) services to develop and maintain rigorous systems and processes of clinical governance and accountability. In addition, the Centre monitors and measures performance of health services and non-government orgainisations to guide the provision of safe high-quality care and reduce harm to communities.
Clinical quality and safety are a key focus of all policies, programs and practice within the portfolio of the Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs. In addition, ensuring effective clinical governance, strategic research and evaluation of programs and activities, surveillance and system response to alcohol and other drug harms is a quality and safety program priority.
What you’ll be doing:
In this role you will lead and monitor the strategic projects being undertaken by the Clinical Quality and Safety Team. You will work in partnership with other teams within the Centre for Alcohol and Other Drugs as well as engaging with key stakeholders within NSW Health, other government agencies and non-government organisations.
- Demonstrated extensive skills and experience in managing all stages of the project and policy cycle (planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation)
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent professional experience
In addition to the essential role requirements, clinical experience or relevant experience in the development of clinical policy and programs would be highly desirable.
