Alcohol and Other Drugs Services Central Australia (ADSCA) is a Northern Territory Government health service that provides treatment and support to patients affected by alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in the Alice Springs and Barkly communities.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist position is located in the ADSCA Clinic. The ADSCA Clinic is a community based health service, providing clinical services to the community members of Alice Springs. Services provided by the clinic include Drug and Alcohol health assessments; Nursing and Medical reviews; Drug and Alcohol withdrawal management; counselling and psychotherapy; case management and provides an Opiate Pharmacotherapy Program.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary clinical team providing specialist Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) clinical support to the ADSCA clinic, promote specialist AOD nursing practice in assessment, brief intervention, withdrawal management and treatment planning in collaboration with a range of service providers. The position is responsible for managing a case load of ADSCA patients, including the case management of patients on the Opioid Pharmacotherapy Program. The position is also involve the delivery of drug and alcohol education to other health professionals and community groups. Experience in AOD is required for this position.
