As more and more trees and tinsel appear, are you thinking what I am thinking? ‘Where did the year go?’. Perhaps you are super organized and have your presents purchased, wrapped and neatly placed under your coordinated baubled tree. However, if you are anything like me, you are counting down the days and checking which shops are open until midnight on Christmas Eve!
This is a reminder to myself and others that it is also time to take a breath and reflect on all the great things you have accomplished this year. Drug and Alcohol Nursing is an exciting, yet sometimes challenging specialty. I have been overwhelmed by the passion and drive of DANA members that I have met throughout the year. From the DANA Management Committee who give of their time to support their chapter, to new and established members that I see promoting DANA at every opportunity. Thank you!
A bigger thanks comes from the many individuals and families you have helped throughout the year. Sometimes you may not know the effect you have had; perhaps it was something you said at intake, during a group session, at the bedside, or during an informal chat. The impact you have had cannot be measured, though is invaluable.
I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, thank you for your ongoing support of DANA and look forward to a very exciting 2016. Now, back to going to buy a tree…
Jen Harland, DANA President
