Announcing the second webinar in DANA’s Springtime webinar series, ‘Smoking cessation for the drug and alcohol patient’.

3 October 2020 by DANA Executive

Find out what  you can do to help your patients who are dependent on alcohol or other drugs when it comes to smoking cessation.
Join our live webinar and hear about the evidence underpinning the latest smoking cessation guidelines. We will discuss research that highlights the importance of addressing smoking cessation with patients who are using alcohol and/or other drugs and also review the various methods that have been proven to help people quit smoking. With special consideration of your drug and alcohol patients, our experts aim to provide direction that’s highly relevant to your practice.

Be sure to stay for the last 10 minutes when we open the event up to you to ask questions (or you can email your questions in before the event so that our presenters answer them during their presentations).

WOWS 10 (Brisbane) – Call for Abstracts – Registrations Open

21 January 2017 by DANA Executive

Now in its 10th year, WOWS 10 (Walk on the Wildside) is a keenly anticipated one-day event on the Brisbane educational calendar, so be sure to keep Friday May 12 free so that you can attend.

Presentations around the theme of ‘Diversity’ in the drug and alcohol arena will be made by several invited speakers, including the noted overseas keynote speaker, Professor Sharon Walsh,   who will address ‘Medically Assisted Treatment for Opioid Dependence in the 21st Century’.

There will also be an opportunity for selected clinicians to present at WOWS10. With this in mind you are invited to submit abstracts with a view to presenting on research, projects, challenging clinical issues and clinical initiatives from your workplace.  For your abstract to be considered it must reflect a presentation that is short, snappy and strictly limited to a maximum of five minutes. Abstracts should be limited to a maximum of 250 words.  The abstract should include:

  • A sentence stating the purpose of the study or project;
  • A brief description of the methods of the study or how the project was conducted;
  • A summary of results;
  • A statement of conclusions.

There is also a chance to win an espresso coffee machine to take back to your workplace. The presenter of the presentation that is judged best on the day by the panel of WOWS10 guest speakers, (heavily influenced by the audience response) will be the lucky winner.

Email your abstract to: [email protected]  no later than March 31 2017.  Successful presenters will be sent details about the presentation format by April 13 2017.

If you would like more information, please direct your questions to the above email address.
