Invited Speaker Profiles

Dr Jeremy Hayllar

Jeremy Hayllar is Clinical Director of the Alcohol and Drug Service of Northside Health Service District in Brisbane, a position he has held since 2004, and an Associate Professor with the School of Medicine, University of Queensland. His career began when after completing his studies at Birmingham University Medical School (UK), he trained in general medicine and gastroenterology in London where he completed research for on the GI effects of NSAIDs. Looking for a change, Jeremy then spent 10 years from 1992 as Director of Medical Services and general physician at Mt Isa Hospital.

Dr Mark Daglish

Dr Mark Daglish graduated in Medicine from the University of Edinburgh and completed his basic Psychiatry training in South East Scotland. In 1998 he moved to Bristol as a Lecturer in the Psychopharmacology Unit, Bristol University. In 2007 Dr Daglish emigrated to Brisbane to take up the post of Senior Lecturer in Addiction Psychiatry at the University of Queensland and Director of Addiction Psychiatry at Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital. Dr Daglish has had a professional interest in the alcohol and drug field since his undergraduate years, when he undertook an elective placement in a detoxification unit in West Berlin. His research career has focused on the use of functional neuro-imaging to understand the neurobiology of Addiction.
