We are excited to bring our AOD one-day forum to Newcastle on Friday 12 April 2024. Our popular forums provide delegates with the opportunity to learn from and network face-to face with leaders in the field in a regional setting.
The Newcastle forum focuses on improving the wellbeing of our Alcohol and Drug Nurses in the workplace, ultimately to improve outcomes for their patients, clients and communities. Our program includes an AOD Essentials stream, an introductory-level workshop, designed for all nurses and health care professionals, who are new to working with people impacted by alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. It will provide an overview of the principles underpinning AOD work as well as some of the practical skills that are required.
Delegates will enjoy an informative and engaging program, which will deepen their professional knowledge. Event networking will enable them to reconnect with colleagues, enhancing sector knowledge-sharing and collaboration.
We are excited to announce our program of speakers and topics.
Keryn Turner, Hunter and New England LHD Clinical Nurse Educator, will MC the day's program which includes the keynote address from Dr Ferghal Armstrong, General Practitioner and Addiction Medicine Specialist (FAChAM).
Michelle Hall and Brendan Clifford join us to discuss AOD research and delegates will hear from Annie Malcolm on the latest in clinical care standards. Our AOD Essentials stream welcomes Stephen Ling who will talk to nursing professionals new to the AOD sector, on withdrawal and dependence management and Associate Professor, Michael Vagg will present the latest on managing OUD in a pain clinic.
